Fierce Kingdom by Gin Phillips
The zoo in nearly empty and Joan and her four year old son have gotten caught up playing and are rushing to leave before the gates close when they come across a situation that has them running for their lives.
This story certainly kept me on the edge of my seat! There were a few times that I was actually genuinely frightened and my heart was racing. There were moments that were very thought provoking as well and had me thinking what I would do in that situation. What is right and what is wrong when it comes down to life and death, what are you willing to sacrifice. What do you do when you are trying to hide from a unsafe situation and your small baby starts to cry? Run,try to quiet them, leave them behind? What would you do if you saw that mother with the crying child? We all know what we would like to say, but is that the truth?
There was also a few times where the characters made some choices that I found very hard to believe and felt like they only were there to provide conflict and to move the plot forward. There was also quite a few plot points left hanging at the end that just felt unfinished.
This was a fast paced easy read, I felt like it was fairly average as far as thrillers go but worth it if you enjoy the genre.
This book was provided to me by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
